Blog Post: 4/12 Online Forms/Surveys

So you've used Google Drive for Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc... but, have you ever used Google Drive to create a form?  Do you even know what this means?  For this blog post, first answer the two questions I just asked... Then, tell me about your experience with survey-generating software.  Have you used any?  If so, which one(s)? 

I have used Google form to create a surveys before. We were asked, in one of my classes, to use an aspect of technology to explain a topic. As a pretest to our presentation, we used a QR code that was liked to a Google form to quiz our class on our topic. Beyond Google forms, I have not used any other survey-generating software. I find Google forms fairly easy to use and easily shareable.

Blog Post: 4/3/2017 My Weekend

Tell me all about your weekend. 

On Saturday I went to prom with my boyfriend. I spent a good portion of the day getting ready slowly because it is my favorite part about dances. I did my makeup and two of my younger sisters helped with my hair

This is a picture of my boyfriend and I in front of my house getting my corsage. It's my senior year, fourth dance and I still have my mom put his on.

We went to eat at the Gaslight grill for dinner. We spent almost two hours there. He had a steak and I had their baked Ziti pasta with eggplant. This is a picture of our deserts. He had Creme Brulee and I had a slice of Cheese Cake. It was so delicious!

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a debilitating neurological disease that affects tens of thousands.It is characterized by causing problems with muscles, vision, mood and concentration. At this time, there is no cure. Marom Bikson, Ph. D, in collaboration with Abhishek Datta, Ph.D created a new technology called  transcranial direct current stimulation (TDCS) that has proven to help with the rehabilitation process of MS. TDCS is a low-amplitude current that travels through a set of electrodes that is places on the head of the patient. The current stimulates the brain's cortex, which allows the neurons to signal each other more easily. This speads up the learning process during rehabilitation. It relates to emerging technology because it is an advancement that could help change to future of treatment of Multiple Sclerosis. In this class, we learn new advancements in technology to help us with our future. During the study of TDCS on cognition in patients, a study of 25 participants used it while playing computer games which was part of their brain-training program. The 20 participants who used TDCS scored higher on the cognitive training that those who only played the brain-training games.

"Our research adds evidence that TDCS, while done remotely under a supervised treatment protocol, may provide an exciting new treatment option for patients with Multiple sclerosis who cannot get relief for some of their cognitive symptoms. Many MS medications are aimed at preventing disease flares, but those drugs do not help with daily symptom management, especially cognitive problems, We hope TDCS will fell this crucial gap and help improve quality of life for people with MS."

1. What's eating Gilbert Grape? -Gilbert Grape (Johnny Depp) is a small-town young man with a lot of responsibility. 2. Fried Green Tomatoes - On one of trapped housewife Evelyn Couch's (Kathy Bates) Wednesday nursing home visits, she encounters Ninny Threadgoode (Jessica Tandy), a colorful old woman who brightens Evelyn's outlook by sharing tales from her past. As Ninny recounts the exploits of her free-spirited sister-in-law Idgie (Mary Stuart Masterson), owner of a small Alabama café in the 1920s, and the bond Idgie shared with her friend Ruth (Mary-Louise Parker), Evelyn gains the confidence to change her own life for the better
3. Clueless - Shallow, rich and socially successful Cher (Alicia Silverstone) is at the top of her Beverly Hills high school's pecking scale. Seeing herself as a matchmaker, Cher first coaxes two teachers into dating each other. Emboldened by her success, she decides to give hopelessly klutzy new student Tai (Brittany Murphy) a makeover. 4. Big eyes - In the late 1950s and early '60s, artist Walter Keane (Christoph Waltz) achieves unbelievable fame and success with portraits of saucer-eyed waifs. However, no one realizes that his wife, Margaret (Amy Adams), is the real painter behind the brush. Although Margaret is horrified to learn that Walter is passing off her work as his own, she is too meek to protest too loudly. It isn't until the Keanes' marriage comes to an end and a lawsuit follows that the truth finally comes to light.

T.V series

1. Death Note - This is an Anime. Don't let that stop you from giving it a change. One episode will be enough to show you a taste of the feel of the series. This anime is complex; in character development, and plot line. Each character has so many layers to them, and that makes their choices and interactions with other characters much more deep. It is a show that, is not so much horror, but thrilling. It is about a boy names Light Yagami who is a genius high school student who discovers the "Death Note", a notebook that kills anyone whose name is written in it, as long as the writer has seen that person's face. After experimenting with the notebook, Light meets the Shinigami (death spirit in Japanese culture), Ryuk (his name), the notebook's original owner. Light tells Ryuk of his plan to rule as a god over a new world free from criminals, where only people he deems morally fit to live remain.
2. Your lie in April - Another Anime. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL! They way that the artists draws and depicts moments is just gorgeous. The story line will make you laugh, cry and leave you connected with the characters. It is about a Piano prodigy named Kōsei (Co-say) Arima has become famous among child musicians but also controversial. After his mother, who was also his instructor died, he had a mental breakdown while performing at a piano recital at the age of eleven. As a result, he is no longer able to hear the sound of his piano even though his hearing is perfectly fine. Two years later, Kōsei hasn't touched the piano and views the world in monochrome, without any flair or color. He has resigned himself to living out his life with his good friends, Tsubaki and Watari, until, one day, a girl changes everything. Kaori Miyazono, a fourteen-year old audacious, free-spirited violinist whose playing style reflects her manic personality, helps Kōsei return to the music world and shows that it should be free and mold breaking. 
3. Orange is the new Black - I'm sure you have heard a lot about it, or maybe have checked it out. If you love when T.v series really connects you with the characters, this is a great one. Slowly they go into the back stories of why the inmates are there, and why they did what they did to get in there. It really is emotional and thrilling. (not appropriate for most kids under 18. btw)
4. Bob's Burgers - At first, I didn't like this series. The characters didn't make sense to me, but after watching for awhile, all of the characters have such an amazing personality to them. What I really like about this show is that they really utilize their female characters in a way unlike any other adult cartoon that I've seen. The female characters are funny, awkward, true to life, and strong. It really is a great adult cartoon.

Blog Post Today: 3/21 Spring Break

Over spring break, my immediate family and extended family on my mom's side all went on a trip to a small resort near Branson Missouri.

On the second day there, my mom and her twin sister took the older kids to a town in Arkansas called Eureka Springs. We spent the day walking from shop to shop and meeting some of the locals.

Later that day, we took a shorter trip to the Haunted Crescent Hotel. I took my Polaroid camera with me so we were able to take some really cool photos. the one one the left was excessively fun to take because I had to figure out how to use the timer function on the spot, and I ended up running back and forth, posing, about 3 times before that was taken. We all had a good laugh. The other is a photo of the outside of the hotel.

 Lastly, this is a picture of one of the most haunted rooms in the entire hotel. We didn't get a chance to take the tour, so I don't know the exact story on it. We plan to come back and stay in one of the rooms to see if we experience anything!
